Also known as Augmentation Mammoplasty, this procedure has become one of the most popular cosmetic operations performed today. The best candidates for this procedure are women who are looking to improve their appearance and self-confidence. Your age is not a major consideration for breast augmentation, but you will need to be carefully assessed to determine the most appropriate technique to achieve that ideal enhancement.
The procedure is performed under a general anesthetic and most patients go home the same day. Saline and Silicone implants are available and your surgeon will work with you to determine the ideal implant to be used. The surgical incision can be placed in a variety of locations including under the breast, around the areola or within the armpit. You will make this decision with your surgeon. The implant can be placed above, but is usually placed behind the chest wall muscles. The operation usually takes less than two hours. Most patients require pain medications for a few days and have returned to work and daily activities within one week. We will ask you to refrain from heavy lifting and exercise for six weeks after your surgery.
