Facelift (Rhytidectomy)

The Facelift – also called Rhytidectomy, is performed to reposition the soft tissues of the mid/lower face and neck into a more youthful and refreshed contour. Problem areas that can be addressed include:

  • Sagging cheeks and the deep creases between them and the lips
  • Drooping jowls that muddy a crisp jaw line
  • Excess skin and fat or a waddle of the neck

The facelift is usually performed with the patient asleep under a general anesthetic and takes between four to five hours. The incisions are strategically placed to be very well hidden in the natural contour lines of the face and within the hair line. Once a facelift has been performed you will continue to age at a normal rate but beginning from the more youthful, rested and refreshed contour that the procedure has restored.

A facelift is often combined with other facial rejuvenation procedures on the eyelids and or brow/forehead. A complete consultation with your surgeon will help you decide what is best for you.
