Upper Lid Blepharoplasty

With aging, people can develop excess upper eyelid skin. This not only can be a cosmetic issue, but can interfere with one's peripheral vision. Removing the excess upper eyelid skin (blepharoplasty) is a relatively straightforward outpatient surgery that only takes 15-20 minutes. The incision is hidden within the upper eyelid crease, eliminating any noticeable scars. Conscious sedation is usually administered for the patient comfort. Because the eyelid skin is the thinnest skin in the body, many patients require no or minimal pain medication (such as extra-strength Tylenol) postoperatively. Swelling and bruising are minimal, especially when the blepharoplasty is done with a laser, and typically last 1-2 weeks.
