What Is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) For Hair Growth?

In recent years, aesthetic practitioners have learned to harness the body’s ability to heal itself to achieve beautiful and natural cosmetic outcomes. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in aesthetic medicine takes advantage of the natural regenerative process and can harness those abilities to amplify the natural growth factors your body uses to heal tissue and stimulate collagen and hair follicle regeneration. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses a patient’s own platelets to complement microneedling treatments, as well as to achieve hair follicle and collagen stimulation when injected subcutaneously.

PRP injections are prepared by taking a small amount of a patients own blood and running it through a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. These activated platelets are then used topically or are injected directly into areas where hair has begun thinning or falling out due to hormonal or nutritional deficiencies, or where the underlying collagen matrix needs stimulating (under the eyes or the backs of the hands, for example). This releases growth factors that stimulate and increase the number of reparative cells your body produces.

At Aesthetic Surgery Centre & Medispa we harness the power of PRP to achieve optimal aesthetic outcomes for our patients. We use PRP for microneedling, hair stimulation, and collagen stimulating procedures. Ask one of our providers during a free consultation if PRP would benefit your aesthetic goals.
